Stay and Play
Every Tuesday 9.30a.m – 11.00a.m
City Road Baptist Church offers its facilities to support both families from the local area with activities for their children up to pre-school age. The service aims to provide opportunities for every child to reach their potential and to support and guide parents to ensure that some of the challenges that may face are made with informed choices.
Stay and Play have been operating from our premises since January 2017. The group meet on a Tuesday morning and is free to access.
The aim of the service is to give every child the opportunity to benefit from early years learning and development in preparation for mainstream school. Children will become more socially aware and build those necessary friendships from a very early age.
Stay and Play offers a number of activities, reading, writing, creative play, singing (nursery rhythms) and outdoor play, weather permitting. In supporting the early years, families will benefit from the structured approach towards early years learning through improving their capacity to learn English and encouraging a creative and social aptitude. This Early year’s programme helps children to grow in confidence and self-esteem in preparation for the next stage of their development.
Stay and Play offers an enriched source of support for parents, and a platform for sharing ideas, matters of concern and general everyday situations. This affords families to develop friendships far beyond just Stay and Play but also families networking. This offers strong bonds with healthy family ties, therefore, increasing parents’ capacity to grow in confidence and identify better ways of supporting their child’s needs; not only at home but also through their transition from primary, junior and ultimately secondary education.
