Pastoral Care

‘… we are people whose lives have been changed’

Welcome to the Pastoral Care

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:

to loose the chains of injustice

and untie the cords of the yoke,

to set the oppressed free

    and break every yoke?

 Is 58:6

For many of us at New Life in Christ, experiences of sensitive and thoughtful pastoral care have helped us to overcome great difficulties in our lives. One of the most powerful ways, God’s love can be demonstrated is through listening- conversations and prayerful counsel from the Bible. During experiences of broken relationships, times of unemployment or difficulties at work; periods of mental and emotional distress or physical sickness; embarking on a journey of recovery or facing other life crises; God’s love is intended to be made real through honouring, respectful and caring pastoral relationships.

Our approach to pastoral ministry is inspired by the life of Jesus Christ, as it is described in the Gospel stories in the Bible. The Bible teaches that Jesus ‘went about doing good and healing the sick’  Acts 10:38 . He built ordinary, close and friendly relationships with people from all sections of society. He was available to guide, comfort, teach and inspire those in his immediate circle, but he also made a point to stop for the unnoticed, the unloved, those oppressed and those on the margins of society. He told stories about God’s love for the homeless, outcasts and widows. He blessed and welcomed children and he was a friend to those deemed ‘misfits’ in society.

We are people whose lives have been changed and continue to be transformed through a trusting relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus is the saviour of the world, who came to help and save any person wrestling with difficult choices, struggling with circumstances or losing their way in life. At New Life in Christ, pastoral care is based on that same restorative and redemptive principles of Jesus’ life and teaching. Please get in touch if you would like to talk something over or pray together with one of the pastoral team at the church, we will be glad to hear from you.
