Church History
NLIC HISTORY
New life in Christ Ministries was birthed in the living room of our home in Harrogate my December 1997 amongst a small group of believers. The ministry first started out as an evangelistic service held once a month on Saturday evenings. These services were advertised as Saturday Night Live events held at the Bilton Grange United Reformed Church. As of June 1998, the church being used was to come under a new administration and the facility would no longer be available to us. With this in mind, we began praying for leaders to establish a biblically sound house group for the purpose of Bible study and to foster personal relationships.
And it came to pass that our first New Life in Christ ministries house group was established in June 1998, the same month of our last evening service, by two anointed licenced ministers from the states. The ministry was in developing house groups and raising up leaders.
In the meantime, we were praying for a permanent location for worship services. After making many inquiries, and getting very little responses in Harrogate, I received a call in November from the New Park School. He was disclosed to me that they had heard of the ministry’s reputable works in the community and that we were in need of a building. Based on hearsay alone, they offered us the use of its school to have Sunday worship services. So, on the 1st Sunday in May of 1999, we had our first evening service. Our weekly evening services continued until September when we began our Sunday 10:00 AM worship service.
Today we give thanks to God for his call and stamp of authenticity to this ministry. It is through Him and those He sends our way, to dig deep and to lay hold of the foundation, and to those who are now putting on the mortar and brick to build a strong edifice on that foundation, that we are his overcoming church. Tonight as you look around to realise that you are who you are because of Him who made us what we are. And without you or Him, none of this would be possible. Thank you for your hard work, love and support.
