… we are here to welcome you each Sunday morning
Welcome to the Hospitality Ministry
“I was a stranger and you welcomed me in” Matthew 25:25
Hospitality is at the heart of who we are as a church. We are richly blessed with having such a diverse and international community weaving a rich tapestry of hospitality into the history and life of the church. It is our heart to welcome the stranger, for people to feel a sense of family, and for each person to come to an awareness of being loved and valued by both God and the people of our church. The author Henri Nouwen wrote:
‘Hospitality is the virtue which allows us to break through the narrowness of our own fears and to open our houses to the stranger, with the intuition that salvation comes to us in the form of a tired traveller.’
The Wounded Healer, Henri M. Nouwen, Page 89
Our desire is that Hospitality will be an overflow out of who we are as people, who have received the welcome embrace, forgiveness and celebration of the Father through Jesus Christ. Therefore hospitality is part of our calling as followers of Jesus, both as a gathered community and as individual disciples. Our intention is that hospitality is expressed in different ways, through individuals, families and life-groups, as well as through Sunday services so that people will be able to experience the love, welcome and warmth of God for themselves.
For those who feel especially called and gifted in the area of hospitality, or for those who would just like to try to serve in this capacity, we have a team who welcome, usher and serve refreshments on Sundays and who organise and serve the larger gatherings and events throughout the year.
