About NLIC

Ordinary people can do extraordinary things through Christ

At New Life in Christ we are a small, but growing community of people from many different nations and walks of life, who each have a life-giving relationship with Jesus Christ. As a local church in Harrogate, we are ordinary people, who have encountered the extraordinary person of Jesus Christ, through reading or hearing the words of the Gospel stories from the Bible.

Each of us has taken significant steps to leave behind a self-serving, and often self-defeating lifestyle which left us at times frustrated and hopeless. We have embraced a new way of life with God, which is hopeful, freeing, fulfilling and often positively surprising. God has taken the different coloured and textured threads of our lives, and woven these different strands together. We have become a community and friends.
More than that, we have become family.

None of us is perfect, each of us would acknowledge that we make mistakes. We are on a journey where there are breakthroughs and sometimes setbacks. Yet our stories also speak of God changing us in significant ways through faith in Jesus, and through each of us choosing to follow and apply the teachings of the Bible in our lives.

We have discovered to our amazement that in spite of any guilt and shame, through Jesus Christ, our mistakes even the very worst of them can be forgiven. We also have come to realise that we too can, and need to, choose to forgive others when we ourselves have been wronged. We have been enriched by spiritual guidance and principles that make our lives more fulfilling. We have tasted ‘new life’.

If you are intrigued by this ‘new life’ and would like to join us on this journey, we would be delighted to hear from you and meet you.

We would love to welcome you to our church and help you come to know Jesus for yourself.

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full,” (Jn 10:10)
